I am taking my own advice.
After focusing last week’s email on dating app addiction, I am in the midst of a dating detox – no online dating for at least a month – probably more.
I’m already experiencing the benefits…
Like feeling more open.
Dating apps force us to limit the choices the app feeds us. That’s the only way we can keep the experience manageable but we lose something along the way.
Our open-mindedness – our ability to accept people.
Do you think you’ve become too “judgy”?
I have.
That’s one of the reasons why I decided to take a break.
Does a woman have to check certain boxes before you’ll consider her?
Here’s a few:
Does she live close enough?
What’s her political affiliation?
What’s her religion?
What would happen if you dispensed with the requirements?
And asked yourself one question –
Does she sound interesting?
Do that and you’ll open up your dating pool – even if just for a day.
Can you do it?
How would your dating experience change if you said yes more?
Yes to things you would normally never entertain.
The fact is, we all have biases and requirements when it comes to dating and while it’s important to know what you want, it’s also important to be open to different possibilities – to different women.
Try it out.
What do you have to lose?
