Huh?

That’s right, this strange period we’re all living through has actually presented new opportunities to singles.

What are common pitfalls we all experience in dating?

Sex?

Yes. If you meet someone online now, you’re definitely not having sex with them.

Money?

Yep. You’re not taking anyone out and therefore won’t be judged on where you take them and how often you treat.

What else?

Rushing in?

Definitely.  Rushing things now would be moving too quickly from phone to video chats.

Whether we like it or not, COVID-19 is forcing us to slow down.

And that’s a good thing.

It’s important to get to know the other person before you get into a serious relationship with them.

“Slow Love” works.

In a recent New York Times article Helen Fisher wrote “a study of over 3,000 married people in the United States found that, compared with those who dated less than a year, couples who dated for one to two years before wedding were 20 percent less likely to divorce. Couples who dated for three or more years before marrying were 39 percent less likely to break up.”

When you meet someone online, take your time.  Get to know them.

And make the most of an opportunity this difficult time has presented.
