I was working on a project – writing, thinking, creating, trying to cast a vision – it wasn’t going well.
One re-write after another.
Writing for a half-hour only to scrap it and start over.
I took breaks.
Procrastinated.
Then dragged myself back to my desk.
Some more writing.
Read over what I had then moved things around.
Then, an idea – some direction.
All of a sudden, I knew what I wanted to say.
That’s my process – wrangling, twisting to find my way – then a spark.
Everything we do that’s important has a struggle.
It’s how we get things done and, more importantly, how we learn and get better.
Don’t resist your struggle.
It’s necessary.
Whether it’s learning new software or being rejected by a woman, stay in it. Embrace it.
And keep going.
